Standing on the Corner in Winslow, Arizona
Blog post #21
Almost to our son Daniel's in Oro Valley. Just a couple more stops along the way.
From Canyon de Chelly we stopped by the town made famous by The Eagles song Take It Easy...Winslow, Arizona. We were going right through town, so even though we were here a few years ago, we stopped again. The town is located on the historic Route 66 which runs from Chicago to Los Angeles.
Statue of Glen Frey. The "flatbed Ford" is visible in the window.
Our last visit to a Native American monument was Montezuma's Castle. This was another incredible example of cliff-side dwellings built hundreds of years before the Spanish arrived and mis-named this site for Montezuma who was never here and of the wrong tribe. It was again mind-boggling to think of how they could have built these homes much less climbed in and out of them daily.
A map of Arizona showing the native tribes and reservations.
Absolutely incredible.
